How to Download Facebook Videos on iPhone & Android

Browser-based steps that work across devices without sketchy sideloads.

Smartphone displaying a video app — saving Facebook clips on mobile

Start with the browser you trust

On both iPhone and Android, use Safari or Chrome. Avoid downloading APKs from unknown stores for "video grabbers" — they are a common malware vector.

Copy the public video URL

Open the Facebook post in a browser, not only the in-app player. Tap Share → Copy link if available, or copy from the address bar on desktop mode. Private groups and friends-only posts are not accessible to external tools.

Paste into DownloadVid

Paste the URL into the input on DownloadVid (this site). The tool should detect Facebook. You will see a placeholder while we finalize processing in the MVP.

Saving on iOS

After a file link is available, Safari may prompt to download or Share. Use Save to Files or Save Video where permitted. iOS may restrict certain MIME types — if a video opens in a new tab, long-press for save options.

Saving on Android

Chrome typically downloads to Downloads or prompts with a notification. From there, move to Gallery or cloud storage if needed.

Permissions and ethics

Facebook's terms limit automated scraping. Use DownloadVid for public URLs you are allowed to save, and avoid bulk harvesting of pages you do not manage.

If something fails

  • Login walls: Facebook may require login to view; our fetcher cannot bypass those.
  • Expired URLs: Copy a fresh link from the post.
  • Live streams: Often require different handling than VOD clips.

Wrap-up

Mobile downloads are straightforward when you stick to public links, a modern browser, and a transparent site like DownloadVid. Watch for platform updates that change share URL formats.
